I am originally from Chester and as a child absolutely loved performing arts. From the age of 6 I had always been involved in amateur dramatics and attended a dance school where we did yearly shows, exams and competitions.
At 19 years old I moved to Manchester and sadly never continued my passion for the stage, instead I trained as a nurse, qualified and worked in a variety of settings, finally ending on SCBU at North Manchester General Hospital. Following the birth of my second child, Oscar, I gave up nursing to be a full time mum
In January 2009 I took my daughter Jennifer to a Footlights open day at Prestwich Arts College, it was by chance that I saw their advertisement and thought I would take Jennifer to have a try out, to see if she had my passion I had as a girl. The open day was jam packed and Jennifer loved it, it was that day that sparked my past love for dance and theatre and I wanted to find a way I could be involved.
I helped out backstage at their first show at The Lowry theatre, Salford quays and I loved every second, I also got involved in the setting up and running of the Cheadle School which I enjoyed and it taught me a lot.
Here we are exactly a year on and I run my own Footlights school! I am extremely proud and excited about the opening of Worsley and welcome you to a brand new term, we’re going to have so much fun! |
