Education
Degree:
Acting BA (hons) Manchester Metropolitan University-graduated July ’08.
Experience:
Wrenn Spinney after school club ‘07
I was part of a team who organised and ran an after school club for both mentally and physically disabled young adults. We had to cater for everyone to ensure that it was a beneficial experience for all involved. The project required a great deal of planning and commitment.
Guides Drama Class leader ‘07
A friend and I co-ordinated a drama workshop for 10-13 year olds; they had not all done drama before so we had to ensure that they felt comfortable with each other and what they were doing so that it was a productive session. We did a mixture of games and script work which they then performed at the end of the day.
Royal and Derngate Theatre Summer School Assistant. ‘07
I worked alongside a group of team leaders, assisting them to create a fun, safe environment for children to devise a piece of theatre. The children were aged from around 8-12 years old. The course involved them performing a piece at the end of the scheme in which I assisted back stage making sure the children were calm and worked safely and productively.
St. Mary’s School After school Drama Group May/June ‘08
I ran an after school drama group for a group of children ranging from 8-10 years old. I had to plan the weekly sessions thoroughly to make sure the children were stimulated and learning. They were an enthusiastic yet rowdy group which meant I had to be in control at all times. It was a challenging but very satisfying experience.
Aqueous humour-Sexual health workshops July ‘09
The artistic director and I have worked together to create a series of workshops designed for the young adults to develop an understanding of sexual health, peer pressure and self image. The group are lively and demanding which means we have to be enthusiastic and professional.
Footlights theatre school September ‘09
I am the drama tutor for the Prestwich branch of Footlights; teaching three different age groups ranging from 5-16. It is a fast moving environment and so it is essential that I plan the sessions thoroughly. It is important that I set manageable targets also as we are putting on a performance at the end of term. A colleague and I also run the ‘tinys’ group at the Bowdon branch of Footlights, in which we work with children aged 4-6. We plan and run the sessions together. |
